Alfalfa is not simply green hay \u2014 it is a protein-dense legume that changes nutritional composition rapidly in the days around bloom, loses 40\u201360% of its leaf content under harsh handling, and builds mold within 24 hours of being baled at even slightly elevated moisture. Every decision from cutting day to bale delivery either preserves or destroys the value that the plant accumulated during the growing season.<\/p>\n
